Lastly, there are the true webmasters out there who take On-Page optimization well beyond where it needs to go. (in my humble & profitable opinion) If you don’t believe me, go ahead and buy one of those 200 page e-books that expect you to have degree from M.I.T. and a full working knowledge of website coding. SEO news If you want to succeed online, then don’t settle for less. Choose the right SEO strategy. It is best practice to use the HTML tag around some keywords that are relevant to the page and that are listed in that page Meta keyword list. DO NOT use them everywhere and on every keyword as this will cause an overuse of the tags. Using it once or twice in a page or post is plenty. I recommend using the tag around a keyword that appears the most. DO NOT bold every single word i.e. if your keyword was ‘SEO’ and on the page you have SEO appearing 10 times, just make one bold which is enough.
Next, do some research on the sites that rank for that particular keyword. What are the top ten sites doing? Who is linking to them? What is their PR ranking? How old is their site? One of the programs that I particularly like is “SEO Elite” that automates these findings for you. It will cost you a little bit, but it will save you hours upon hours of research and give it to you in a report. Now that you have your facts, you can tell what you need to do to rank for that keyword.
This goes for on-site SEO and off-site SEO. When linking to other pages from your site use your keyword in the anchor text of the link. This puts your keyword on the page again, and as a link. This may not seem like much but it will help tremendously.
