An Ode to Memory-Shahid Imtiaz

At times Memory obliterates language and is left blank,
And I find myself lost in a vacuum around me,
Sometimes it echoes silence, threatening and menacing,
In search of words, so precious and precarious, l itch my past,
Very little is found, all erased perhaps.

Words that once involved you and me into a bond intrinsic and enduring,
Promises and pledges made in another world perhaps,
Emotions, events and moments spent in seclusion,
Words that intertwined us, inescapable and inseparable,
All gone perhaps, leaving me in the agony of physicality,
Oh memory how can you be so treacherous and savage.
