A loner

I sat on a tree

On an even lonelier branch

On solitary leaf

Looking for company

In city

Deaf to bird song

I am but a bird

Of species undefined

Looking for peace

In city

Strewn with realtor brochure.

Vandana Kumar is a Delhi based Indian teacher, poet and translators whose works regularly appear in national and international journals ,magazines and anthologies.
