T2: The Arcade Game: How Good is It?

In its initial form, it was just called Terminator 2: Judgment Day and was based on the film with the same name. It was released in the next year, it was named, and should not to be confused with different Terminator 2: Judgment Day games that came out during the same time. The game is often referred to simply as “T2”, despite the name changing. T2: The Home arcade Center Game has been porting to the Sega Mega Drive and Sega Master System. The Mega Drive version of the game is compatible with the Sega Menacer. The game’s story is in line with the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day in order to protect the leader of the Human Resistance, John Connor, as well as his mother Sarah from the T-1000 the most advanced prototype Terminator determined to kill both of them. The player is portrayed as of a T-800 Terminator Cyborg and fights with Skynet in 2029. Eventually, the T-800 and John Connor penetrate Skynet’s headquarters and take out the system’s CPU. The T-800 finds the equipment for time displacement and is sent back to John’s early years with the mission of protecting him from the T-1000 Skynet is already sent back. John, Sarah and the T-800 started an attack on Cyberdyne Systems to stop the creation and growth of Skynet in the past. The T-1000 follows the group and chases the group in the form of a police helicopter as well as an evaporation truck. T-800 can freeze and break the T-1000 with liquid nitrogen. However, it rapidly melts and then reforms to continue the chase for John. The T-800 must stop John from being killed by the T-1000 and then explode it into a blast of molten metal in order to end it. There are two possible endings depending on the results of the Cyberdyne raid. If all equipment is destroyed players receive a notification that Judgment Day has been averted however, the firm’s studies will go on and Judgment Day remains a possibility. It is a first-person rail shooter. The first part of the game takes place during the human-machine conflict in 2029. The following part takes place in John’s early years in the 1990s. The stages scroll automatically. Sometimes, you will need to get rid of some enemies or locks to advance. Hidden objects can give you additional power or credit, as well as other benefits. Players lose points at the end of each level by killing civilians. The player is equipped with machine guns that are fired by using the trigger on the Menacer, or a control pad. While the gun has unlimited ammunition, it quickly overheats and loses efficiency therefore players should allow it to cool down periodically by not firing for any length of time. A gunpower gauge can be a tool that each player uses to monitor their gun’s performance. It diminishes with every shot. A secondary weapon is also accessible to players, which includes an rocket launcher for 2029 stages, and shotguns for the stages from the 1990s. The weapons are fired by pressing the top button on the Menacer, or using a control pad. They also have energy gauges which indicate their level of health. The energy gauge is a sign of the level of player’s health. Players may stop playing when the energy gauge has run out. The score is not reset when the game is played. The quantity and positioning of enemies can make it impossible to protect yourself from damage so the game can’t be won without continuing. The game can be played with two players simultaneously play, with each player using a control pad or with one player playing with the Menacer and the other player using a control pad. Players share credits. The amount of credit that is available can be determined in the options menu. Shooting items is how you get the credits. The steps of both the Master System and Game Gear versions are identical. The D-pad triggers the gun, and the aimer shoots the crosshair. There are some differences in the stage layout and item placement. There are two types of items: one that picks a random item and an item that temporarily changes the secondary weapon to MIRV missiles which can fire multiple volleys and hunt targets automatically. There are three different difficulty levels (Easy Normal, Normal, and Hard). Each version is single-player. The Master System version does not have support for the Light Phaser and can only be played using the control pad. The game is not region-locked and thus runs across any region system. The Sega Mega Drive is a very different game than the Arcade version or the Super NES port. It also differs in both the game’s content and its visuals. Visually, the game now predominantly uses pixel art instead of digital graphics. For unknown reasons, the palette is now brighter. The layout of the enemy has also been altered, there are no walls or resistance soldiers before stage 1, there is no elevator in stage 3, and some speech samples have disappeared (most particularly after the encounter with the T-1000 in the fight with liquid nitrogen). There are no helicopters that are a threat to the enemies in Cyberdyne, and there is no rope SWAT in Cyberdyne and final stages. The list of items is not complete. The ending cinematic is replaced with just one image of John Connor (also in the SNES version).
